Wonderful state park for camping, canoeing, fishing. Has landings for putting in or coming out. The New River starts in Boone and flows north into West Virginia. There are several canoe rental companies that offer pick up service. If you like a lazy river, don't miss this opportunity.

Great "in town" park to picnic and hike the rim route for great scenery. Two overlooks provide a panoramic view of Jefferson/West Jefferson.

Just down the parkway from Moses Cone Park, this has a great camping area, a beautiful lake to fish or rent a rowboat. There is a great picnic area with bathrooms, and a stream running through it for the kids to play in.

With 25 miles of hiking trails, there is a trail for everyone. It is one of the most interesting hiking areas around. Flat Top Manor is the old house that offers Southern Highlands Craft Guild crafts for sale. Don't miss out on this experience.
