Typically, construction in the mountains will take 5 to 7 months. That may seem like a long time, but remember that each home is custom built. It is not a production line like many homes are in metro area subdivisions.
Also, mountain weather plays a big factor in construction time. When it is cold and windy, sometimes it is impossible to work outside. If the ground is frozen, site work is impossible. Even in good weather, clearing a site on a mountain side full of trees is still more work than a treeless flat lot.
Since you are able to pick and order your own interior appointments, sometimes supplier delays can cause building delays. That is OK. We want you to be happy with your choices when the home is finished.
After the house design is agreed upon, we will create a contract for you. The contract specifies what materials are to be used, what comes with the house (based on how much or how little you want us to do from a shell to turn key - move in ready), and of course the total cost to build.
The total cost will be typically broken down into about 8 payments called a "draw schedule." You only pay us the amount specified in your draw schedule after that phase of construction is completed.
There are many more parts to the contract that discuss legal terms designed to protect you but really, what most people are really interested in is how much will it cost to build the house they want.
Building costs vary greatly depending on square footage of the house, the type of materials used, the design of the house, size of decks and porches and the quality and quantity of the interior fixtures such as cabinets, counter tops, flooring, custom bathtub/shower and electrical and plumbing fixtures.
Our building costs usually range from $45 and up per square foot of total construction space. That includes main floor, loft, basement, covered porches and decks. That seems to be the simplest way to help you estimate construction costs. Items in the first paragraph really determine the square foot cost.

Prospective clients often ask us if we have floor plans. Yes, we do. We can custom design a floor plan for you or use a floor plan from one of the many houses we have built. Go to the "Home Showcase" tab on this website.
If you already have a floor plan or saw one somewhere, we can use that too. Perhaps a friend has a cabin that you really like the floor plan. Just sketch it out and we can recreate it for you.
